In early 2010, we contacted Zayne Kerr to build us a new house in Brooklands. The house design is modern “take” on the classical Oakleigh design (a Rangiora icon) and thus much more complex than a simple “box”.

Previously I have project managed and help build the house we currently live in, as well as building a number of greenhouses, shadehouses and utility sheds on my plant nursery. All through the construction of the house we found Zayne helpful, respectful and technically thorough. We were more than happy with the way Zayne and his crew carries out the build and I was impressed by the care and interest they took in the house and the suggestion they made to improve the building and construction.

While the floor of the house was damaged in the recent earthquake, the fact that there is very little to the structure of the house is a testament to the way in which it was constructed; some houses nearby were damaged beyond repair.

I would recommend Zayne’s to anybody who is looking for a builder.

I had Wulf Borrmeister, Architect, design me a warehouse and office with a two story apartment above. This was designed to a very high standard and I also had him design a very complex showroom and office.

The showroom is extra modern with 9 metre high curved walls that also lean in and out.

I was very concerned that it could not be built but Wulf had seen this idea used in Germany and he assured me it could be done.

Zayne Kerr was recommended to me from a close friend that had some work done by him and he said he has his team were great tradesmen and a pleasure to have on the job so I appointed him to fit out the apartment and build the showroom and office.

I was also pleasantly surprised how he took this complex design in his stride and although the design challenged him and his team they carried out a great job without any problems.

He worked on an hourly rate for me but did give me a price guide and it worked out very close to this price.

I would recommend Zayne Kerr to any prospective client and would be very happy to show them the apartment, showroom and office that he built for me.

In 2010 my wife and I decided to build a new home. We selected our draughtsman to draw up our plans of which sent out to 4 building companies for tender.

Part of our selection process was to interview each builder as our decision was not based on cost. As this was to be our dream home, we wanted a building company that we felt comfortable working with. From this we selected to contract Zayne Kerr Builders Ltd. As our house was 360 sq m we wanted a builder that would take pride in this project. The house was started March 2011 and completed mid August 2011.

We found Zayne approachable, courteous and his workmanship outstanding with emphasis to fine details. He was forth coming with constructive suggestions which we took on board; nothing was a problem for Zayne or his staff. All Zayne’s appointed subcontractors were of the same high standard, very easy to work with.

Zayne takes pride in his contracts with the end result being a beautifully completed home.

We have no hesitation in recommending Zayne Kerr Builders and his team as A Class master builder contractor.
